VM FORWARD FESTIVAL 2019

McNally Unlimited© created the positioning, copy and brand identity across a variety of media for South Africa's first Visual Merchandising festival, the VM Forward Festival held in Cape Town in June 2019. A feeling of movement is created with colour blocks and images shifting freely from the restraints of their borders. The entire identity is literally moving forward. Clare McNally was also invited to speak at VMFF19. She inspired the VM community to do more to claim its rightful place within the brand building world.

Project info (from top) — EU posters / Folded posters lobbying for more cultural funding, presented to the E.U. Parliament in Brussels in 2005. Juriaan Langstraat (NL); Selina Buetler (ZRH); Matthias Kreutze & Anet Tibut (DE); Paul Gangloff (FR); Joseph Micheli (IT); Clare McNally (ZA/IRE).  'Remember Hiroshima' / Postcard illustration for a 2002 Kessels Kramer project remembering the 6th of august 1945 (73 years later and, unfortunately, the message is more relevant than ever).  PHD publication / Research into the effectivity of substance abuse treatment in the Netherlands / Dr. Suzan Oudejans. GRA Architectural Design End Exam Show / Invitation from 2007.  Self-made money /  A 'stripped' aesthetic of all the functional security features in a €500 bank-note (found with surprising ease online). Project from experimental jetset, 2005.  GRAY Magazine / The official publication of the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, made in collaboration with Lane Gry Vejlgaard and Risto Kalmre. The publication was centered around Craftsmanship and featured in "100 at 360º: the new generation of graphic designers" (Laurence King Publishers, UK) and "Grids: Creative Solutions for Graphic Designers" (Rotovision).  The Beatles Abbey Road / A series of interpretations of the album, based on a conspiracy theory about the apparent 'death' of Paul McCartney in 1969. Also part of a lecture on conspiracy theories held at lost&found in Amsterdam (project from experimental jetset, 2005).  Portfolio Class with Clare :-) / A book by Clare McNally about creative portfolios for new-comers to advertising (2008).  Worn Relics / A project by artist, Ruby Hoette, collecting and archiving clothing items online.
