We're all guilty of too much on-screen designing, but ... honestly ... there's no time like right now to go analogue! It's a spa, holiday, gym and party for your Art Director brain all at once. So, get out some paper, grab an HB pencil, some markers, dig out those old paint tubes, wool, tape, scissors, stickers ... it really doesn't matter what (as long as it's unclickable), make a cup of tea, tune into that podcast everyone's been telling you about forever and start sketching. Bah-liss.
Sketches by DMJX students for the Brand Creation course — a snackbar for creatives. Yum!
Something different happens when we're physically drawing or interacting with materials and don't have Pinterest or a gazillion links to save the day. The limitations, the tools, the mistakes ... all work together to produce something new. Something with your signature all over it. Layout pads don't have apple Z (I know, I've tried!), pencils smudge, paper creases, clay cracks. This is the beauty of analogue. You create an opportunity to be genuinely original.
There are an endless number of crafty, hands-on (and yes, probably totally hipster) things you can try out: knitting, sewing, beading, graffitti, painting, ceramics, oregami, woodwork, book-binding, lithography, etching, old typewriter art ... explore! I mean, look at this guy, he sews faces!

And, to keep yourself in the analogue mood, get yourself a ticket NOW for the OFFF Festival 2020 in Barcelona – they've had people like Camilla Walala showing her bright, urban style all over dull city blocks. She travels a lot for inspiration and always has her sketchpad, markers and coloured paper at hand.
Before you head off-line, why not follow @camillewalala on instagram. she always travels with a sketchbook.

Or, you can attend any other arty conference around the world for inspiration, like Eurobest. Here a guy drawing all the speakers 'live' on cardboard boxes. Analogue is so now!
